Business Pitch Competition

Spring 2025 Startup Sprint & Business Plan Pitch Competition

High School Students! Round up four of your smartest friends for a shot at cash and scholarships from 野狼社区 University鈥檚 Meinders School of Business (MSB). 

High School Administrators, Teachers and Advisors! Sign up teams of 5 students (you can bring multiple teams) to be a part of the MSB pitch day via the link below. If they win, you get a beautiful trophy for your school. 

Join us for our Spring Startup Sprint & Business Plan Pitch competition 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2025. Compete with other high school teams from across the state and learn what it takes to develop a winning pitch from MSB at OCU.

MSB professors, staff and current OCU business upperclassmen and will serve as mentors helping your student team identify an opportunity by developing a fictitious product, structuring a business model, then delivering the perfect 2- to 3-minute pitch to a panel of industry experts. Real-world collaboration, professional feedback and serious prize money:

$3,000 鈥 First place
$2,000 鈥 Second place
$1,000 鈥 Third place
$500 鈥 Fourth place

Previous Example: 鈥淚magine and pitch a new IoT product with a marketing plan and financial projections鈥

OCU MSB Associate Dean Bob Greve will provide all the details of what goes into developing a product, identifying an audience and creating economic projections. Your team will then work together on the product, marketing plan and financial forecast for your pitch.

Individual and Team Registrations Welcome! 


Individuals are encouraged to come and experience the Pitch Competition! You will be placed on a team of 5 to compete.


Register your team(s) of 5 students. There is no limit to the number of teams (comprising 5 members) that your organization can bring. 

8:30 鈥 9 a.m. Check in the Gardner Room, 3rd Floor of Meinders Building
9 鈥 9:15 a.m. Introduction to the Meinders School of Business (breakfast provided) 
9:15 鈥 9:30 a.m. Current OCU business student panel 
9:30 鈥 10 a.m. Overview of Business Plan & Pitch Instructions 
MSB Associate Dean Bob Greve will instruct students on how to develop a basic business plan and the essential elements of a pitch presentation. The premise will be presented for students to address. 
10 a.m. 鈥 11:30 a.m. Teamwork 
Students work as a team to develop a business pitch during a working lunch. Professors, professionals and business students provide guidance/coaching as teams prepare business pitches. 
11:30 a.m. 鈥 Noon Lunch (provided) and final pitch practice
Noon 鈥 1 p.m. Preliminary Pitch Round 1 
Teams present their pitch to faculty and deans from the Meinders School of Business. Top teams from each group will move forward to round 2.
1 鈥 1:30 p.m. Final Pitch Round 2 
Top teams present their pitch to the final panel of judges.
1:30 p.m. Wrap Up 
Receive feedback, learn about OCU scholarships, receive swag while judges make final decisions
1:45 p.m. Winners announced and trophies awarded! 
2 p.m. Optional tour of campus. Students dismissed for the day.

Fall 2024 Startup Sprint & Business Plan Pitch Competition Results

Congratulations to the top 4 high school teams who won cash prizes and big trophies at our Fall 2024 Startup Sprint & Business Plan Pitch Competition. Our panels of professional judges were so impressed with all the young people who participated.

  • 4th Place: Francis Tuttle Technology Center
  • Honorable Mention: Metro Technology and Booker T. Washington (team 2)

The feedback from our Fall 2024 High School Startup Sprint and Business Plan Pitch Competition has been overwhelmingly positive. We're proud of our faculty and staff for engaging and encouraging young minds while also creating opportunities for the business community to give back to business education by providing real-world mentoring and evaluation.
