Advanced Practice Certificate: Adult Gerontology Acute Care
Advanced Practice certificates are designed for advanced practice nurses who want to obtain education and certification in another advanced practice role. The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) is 22 credit hours and begins in the spring.
The Post Master's Certificate graduate of the Kramer School of Nursing will function as a professional nurse, able to:
Demonstrate the capacity to develop environments promoting professional, ethical and legal nursing practice.
Design, implement and evaluate comprehensive programs based upon advanced theoretical knowledge that promote health, restore wellness, prevent illness and incorporate self-care activities.
Synthesize nursing research findings and integrate evidence based processes to develop critical thinking frameworks for problem solving and making effective clinical, educational and administrative judgments.
Demonstrate leadership in the promotion of physical, mental, social and spiritual health across the life span within diverse cultures. Provide collaborative and innovative leadership to coordinate and delegate care of clients and to manage health care systems.
Develop practice environments that exemplify the caring behaviors of acceptance, respect and empathy.

The Post-Master’s Certificate Programs admit once a year. In order to be admitted, applicants must meet the following qualifications:
Admission to the university
Current active licensure with Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Oklahoma as an Adult APRN, Pediatric APRN, Acute Care APRN or other Advanced Practice role with current national certification; evaluation on a case-by-case basis
A master’s degree in nursing with graduate level coursework in Advanced Pathophysiology, Pharmacology and Advanced Assessment from a nursing program accredited by ACNE or CCNE
Graduate GPA of 3.25 or higher
A personally written essay of 750 words or less describing how the Post-Master’s Nurse Practitioner Specialty Certificate will help achieve life and career goals
A current curriculum vitae
Summer applicants to the PMC in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Fall applicants to the PMC in Family Nurse Practitioner and Spring applicants to the PMC in Adult Gerontology Acute Care, .
