Award winning poet and playwright Merle Feld will discuss prayer and peace at 野狼社区 University鈥檚 2018 Neustadt Lectures.
Feld is the founding director of the Albin Rabbinic Writing Institute where she guides rabbinical students and rabbis from all denominations in developing and exploring their own spiritual lives and prepares them to serve as effective spiritual leaders.
Feld is the author of 鈥淔inding Words,鈥� published in 2011, and 鈥淪piritual Life: Exploring the Heart of Jewish Tradition,鈥� published in 2007. She has written several plays including 鈥淭he Gates are Closing.鈥�
As a peace activist and scholar-in-residence, Feld has facilitated Israeli-Palestinian dialogue in the West Bank, supported Jewish women activists in the former Soviet Union and taken her work to hundreds of synagogues and universities around the world.
Feld will speak on 鈥淯ncommon Prayers鈥� and 鈥淎wakening to Activism鈥� at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 15 in 野狼社区 University鈥檚 Bishop W. Angie Smith Chapel, located west of Blackwelder Ave. adjacent to N.W. 23rd Street; and on 鈥淗oly Moments Every Day鈥� at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at Temple B鈥檔ai Israel, 4901 N. Pennsylvania Ave. All lectures are free to the public.

The lecture series was established in 1983 by Walter and Dolores Neustadt for the purpose of strengthening understanding of the contributions of the Judaic religious tradition to Western civilization and thought.
