The Oklahoman ran a photo of alumna Jane Jayroe Gamble (BM 鈥69, DHL 鈥11 and trustee) for its #ThrowbackThursday series. The photo is of Jayroe preparing to leave for Atlantic City, N.J., in 1966 to participate in the Miss America pageant, which she would go on to win.

Freddy Sanchez (鈥99-鈥00) announced his retirement from professional baseball on his 38th birthday. Sanchez made three Major League Baseball All-Star teams over 10 seasons. He played for Boston, Pittsburgh and San Francisco. He hit .344 with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2006 won the National League batting crown on the final day of the regular season.
Stephen Louis Cortes (JD 鈥99) received advanced-level training from the American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys on synthetic marijuana drugs in DUI cases.

Music alumnus Chad Anderson (MM 鈥00) directed a Northern Oklahoma College musical production of 鈥淎 Year with Frog and Toad鈥 in Ponca City.

Sarah Coburn (MM 鈥01) was named a recipient of the 2015 Oklahoma State University Alumni Association鈥檚 Distinguished Alumni Award. Coburn earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree from OSU and her master鈥檚 degree from OCU.

Stefenie Shaw (鈥08-鈥10) was inducted into the Connecticut Wrestling Hall of Fame. Shaw twice finished fourth at the U.S. Olympic trials, won a bronze medal for the U.S. at the 2004 Pan-American Games and won a collegiate national title while at OCU.

April Nelson (BM 鈥14) was third-runner up and won the talent portion in the preliminaries for the Miss America pageant. Nelson sang "Climb Every Mountain" from the musical "The Sound of Music."
Tracy Langley (DNP 鈥14) had an article in the 2015 September-November issue of The Oklahoma Nurse. The article is titled 鈥淥klahoma Nurse Practitioners need Full Practice Authority.鈥

Kearby (Rosenlieb) Dickeson (JD 鈥15) was named an associate attorney for the Wilson, Robertson and Cornelius, P.C. firm in Tyler, Texas.
Elia Folch (BBA 鈥15) turned professional on the Ladies European Tour Access Series. Folch earned status on the developmental tour to the Ladies European Tour with her finish in Lalla Aicha Tour School Final Qualifying in December. Folch helped OCU win two national titles and two conference crowns.
Emily Webster (BS 鈥15) was honored as the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Missouri Chapter鈥檚 person of the year. From Sedalia, Mo., Webster finished her OCU career with four 101-pound Women鈥檚 College Wrestling Association national championships and a 118-0 record. Her singlet is on display in the women's exhibit inside the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in Stillwater.
